2008-2012 Cadillac SRX Keyless Entry Remote Tutorial

Press lock to lock all doors.  Press unlock once to unlock the driver's door.  Press twice to unlock all doors.  In the summer you may want to hold down the unlock button.  This will open the windows to allow the vehicle to cool off before you enter.

Press and hold the power liftgate button.  This will open or close the liftgate.

The panic button can be used to locate the vehicle by pressing once.  The lights will flash and the horn will chirp.  In an emergency you can sound the alarm by holding down the panic button for 2 seconds.  Press again to end the alarm.

To use remote start press the lock button then press and hold the remote start button.  If you want your climate controls to perform particular tasks (like heating the seats and blowing heat in the winter, or the opposite in the summer) set your climate control defaults in the vehicle personalization menu.  Instructions can be found in the owner's manual.

I lost one of my 2010 srx remotes. What can i do to stop that remote from working.
Posted @ Tuesday, December 27, 2011 6:45 PM by joe
When the keyless entry remote programming procedure is performed, all learned remotes are dropped and any remotes that are programmed during the procedure will be the only ones that will work. The programming procedure is in the owner's manual. If you don't have an owner's manual you can obtain the instructions here: http://www.remotesandkeys.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=P158

I have a 2012 SRX and I started getting a "remote not detected" message" while driving. How can I fix this?
Posted @ Wednesday, January 11, 2012 8:15 AM by Lucy
You can put the remote into the transmitter pocket located inside the console storage area or glovebox. It will probably be detected there. Regardless, you should change the remote's battery as soon as possible. This will most likely solve the problem. If changing the battery and putting it in the transmitter pocket doesn't solve the issue then you'll need to replace the remote.

My keyless remote for my 2008 SRX fell apart and I lost the "remote" part...so am using the key only for access to the vehicle. The other day (remember no keyless anything) I had the keys in my pocket, got out of the car without locking it, and somehow the car automatically locked!! Imagine my shock since I haven't been able to use any keyless locking for months. Can you explain this to me?

Thanks.

There are two things I can think of right now that can cause that. 1. Before anwering I'd need to know if the vehicle is equipped with PROX entry. If your key slides into the bottom of the remote then the vehicle has PROX. If the key is separate from the remote then the vehicle does not have PROX.
If the vehicle does not have prox then the vehicle customization menu must have become set to lock the doors when you leave. If the vehicle does have PROX there must be another working PROX remote somewhere in the vehicle.

I must not have PROX as my key is separate. I can't imagine that anything would be set to lock when I leave. I leave the keys in the ignition all the time. I've not pulled them out a lot and left them in the car, however, so am wondering about that action. I'm also wondering if the remote that fell apart is hiding somewhere in the car! Thanks!

I have the 2012 SRX and the range sucks on the remote. Is there anything you can do to expand it? You have to be within 10' of the vehicle to remote start which defeats the purpose.
Posted @ Wednesday, March 14, 2012 1:07 PM by Ed Hunt
Have you tried changing the batteries. These remotes are known for going through batteries very fast. Weak batteries are known to affect range. Also, do you have these problems all the time or just sometimes, maybe when you are near power lines and other sources of interference?

It's only 1 month old but I suppose the batteries in both remotes could be bad. Problem happens always. My office window is 20' from my car and it won't work.

I have a 2008 Cadillac SRX and the remote is not working I have changed the batteries several times, but the result that I always get is that the remote workes for like 2 min and then stops compleetly. can you please Advice on what to do? I also got the tire pressure light on and this also came on at the same time when the remot stopped working I am not sure if bothe problems are related or not?

We are hearing about a lot of troubles with these remotes. The problem may be the remote or it may be the system. You can order a new remote to try. If it has the same problem then you know it is the system. If the system is the issue I suggest getting an aftermarket system installed. Getting the dealer to replace the original system will be costly.

I lost one of my key fobs for my 2012 SRX. Is there anyway to locate the fob electronically?
Posted @ Sunday, July 08, 2012 4:20 PM by John
I have a 2010 srx that did not come with an automatic start and would like a factory one put on it. Is this possible? I want to just program the key fobs I have now rather than getting one that is not compatible with my key fob and having to carry more than one key fob around.

My wife just lost her key fob (2012 SRX) and I also wonder if their isn't some way it could be located electronically (could ONSTAR help)?

My Cadillac SRX had both remote keys inside and still locked me out. This has happened 3 times and had to have a locksmith come and open the vehicle. Has anyone had this problem?

Can you reprogam a smart key remote for a 2010 srx caddy from a used one from another 2010 srx? I have two and can't seeem to get it to work I have been told that once they are programmed that they can't be used on another car. Is that right? Any ideas, thoughts,or information. I have gone through all the procedures in the owners manual several times. Thanks.

Got a SRX 2008 Yhe problems with my remotes is that I can't change the programation for seats and mirrors. Any issues?

This answer is for Amphai Pearl. You should go to an Automotive Alarm Shop and have a "remote start add-on module that uses the factory remote" installed. If you can't find a decent Alarm shop then you can always go to Best Buy.

This answer is for David H. Bassett. In theory if someone was using the right scientific equipment it could be found. However, I've never heard of anyone doing this or of anyone using the appropriate equipment for this purpose. If someone were to invent a way for ONSTAR to integrate a detector in their vehicle systems I bet ONSTAR would pay big money for it.
There is a remote finder on the market but you have to have a special transponder on the same keychain as the remote and that is what the finder looks for. It can't help you since your remote is already lost.

Hello Rovella Phillips, To change the battery you'll need a small flat head screwdriver. There is a seam between the front case and back case. About 25% up from the bottom of the right side seam there is a small gap about a millimeter wider than the rest of the seam. Stick the flat head in there and gently pry the cases apart. Once it releases there do the same elsewhere around the case until the front and back completely come apart. You'll see the battery. Simply replace the CR2032 with a new one in the correct position (+ towards the back case.) Close the remote.

Hello Ken, Bad news. Most remotes will not work with 1 trip through the washer/drier. Your toyota remote has experienced nothing short of a miracle to go through multiple washes and still work. The good news is that we have your remote in stock at the moment.

Hello Barbie, if you exit the vehicle and leave the remote inside the vehicle will lock because Cadillac doesn't want someone else to be able to enter and drive your vehicle away. Either make sure you have a second remote with you when you exit, or don't leave any remote in the vehicle.

Dear Ivan Salmons, The 2010+ Cadillac SRX remotes can not be easily reused. They lock upon programming and locked remotes can't be reused on other vehicles unless they get unlocked first. It is very rare to encounter a locksmith with the ability to unlock them and if you did find one the cost would be not be significantly better than buying a new remote.

Hello Yves, I hope I understand your question correctly. Below I am pasting the Seat/Mirror Instructions from your owners manual:

Memory Seat and Mirrors
On vehicles with the memory feature the buttons are located on the driver’s door.
1: Saves the seating position for driver 1.
2: Saves the seating position for driver 2.
S: Recalls the easy exit position.
To program the buttons:
1. Adjust the driver’s seat including the seatback recliner, both outside mirrors, and the throttle and brake pedals. See Outside Power Heated Mirrors on page 2-43 and Adjustable Throttle and Brake Pedal on page 2-28 for more information.
2. Press and hold button 1 for at least three seconds. Two beeps confirm that the settings have been saved.
3. Repeat the procedure for a second driver using button 2.
The vehicle must be in PARK (P) to recall the stored settings.
Press either button to recall the stored setting. Each time a memory button is pressed, a single beep will sound.
To recall the stored positions when unlocking your vehicle with the remote keyless entry transmitter, see DIC Vehicle Customization on page 3-62.
To stop recall movement of the memory feature, press one of the power seat or mirror controls.
Easy Exit Seat
S Press the exit button to recall the exit position when
the vehicle is in PARK (P). You will hear a beep.
The memory seat and easy exit features can also be
programmed using the Driver Information Center (DIC).
See DIC Vehicle Customization on page 3-62.
